Today’s UNC celebration has me thinking about the local obsession with college sports. It’s so hardcore in the Triangle of North Carolina that people get really passionate about it. I wonder — does this affect dating? Probably not, though I have to wonder if some of you would be more excited about a guy who shared your Tar Heel love over a guy who rooted for Duke every time.
Does sports affiliation matter?

Definitely matters 🙂 I wouldn’t refuse to date someone who cheered for a rival team, but I would definitely take it into consideration… And not just college sports, but pro sports too.
On the other hand, as long as they’re interested in the same sport I am, that’s always a plus.

It is a simple test of intelligence. Yes, smart people attend N.C. State. However, N.C. State sports fans are some of the least intelligent people to walk the earth. This fact makes them angry, and they will try to refute you. However, given the lack of evidence to support the idea that their team is worthy of being cheered for, they will end up just calling you names and deriding another ACC team.
If you are looking for class, date a Heel. If looking for money, date a Dukie. If looking for someone to clean your house, date a State fan.

As is usually the case, postings like this say way more about the poster than about the people s/he’s talking about. Thanks for the insight.
